Yelp = the Evil Thing in the World.

Hello Dear Readers,

BELOW YOU WILL SEE PROOF THAT YELP IS A SCAM.

At the office we have one thing we never speak of.  We all know not to talk about it, because it's the game we can't win.  That game is the Yelp game.

Here is how it's played.

OBJECTIVE:  Keep a 4 Star Rating

RULES:  You can't post reviews yourself.  Yelp filters all reviews 4 stars and above unless it's done by a Yelp Eliter.

HOW THE GAME WAS PLAYED:  We run 100,000 customers and hope that all of them have a 5 star evening and all enjoy the same meal.  If anybody doesn't and they post a negative review regardless of their rank or if they've ever posted before it sticks forever.  If anybody posts a positive review they filter it (their verision of removing it).

HOW YOU WIN:  You don't.  EXAMPLE:  Chicago 38 reviews that are 5 stars, 1 reviews that is 4 stars, 2 reviews for 3 stars, 1 reviews that is 2 stars, 3 reviews that are 1 star.  Our average is.... drum roll 2 STARS!  How?  Well, 38 reviews that are 5 stars are FILTERED!

WHY IS THIS GAME PLAYED?  After a lot of research it's because Yelp filters positive reviews for the people that don't choose to advertise with their website.  We have been called declined their advertising and as if by magic ALL of our positive reviews are filtered!  Am I being paranoid?  CHECK THIS WEBSITE OUT IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!

If you support us or want to help me in this fight.  Search The Murder Mystery Company in Yelp!  at the location you're closest to.

Thank you and sincerly SCREW YOU YELP!

Scott

PS:  Yelp! deleted my account today, because I wrote a bad review of Yelp on Yelp!

If it's any consolation, I have never heard of it, so I don't know if they really have any influence over what people choose to do. (other than those 47 people in Chicago ;) )

Good Point Jamie. It's HUGE in New York, LA, Chicago, but smaller markets are still catching on.

I have never been to your murder mystery yet but I have been on your website and so far I'm impressed . You seem very open about what goes on around there and I hope to come see one very soon I'm working on fitting it in our budget so we come come enjoy one of your shows. I have found word of mouth is the best way to advertise anyway I wiould not worry about YIppie ya ya yelp. If you have people coming week after week and they are enjoy there experience they will come back. My daughter is a photographer mostly weddings and her salary is very important to her little family of 3 just getting started in life ( with my wonderful grandson) I would say 90% of her biz is word of mouth she booked 36 weddings this year and had to turn down several. If she has someone not like something about their pics she will try to bend over backwards to make them happy if it's truly something she can see she could have done better if not she will try to make them happy but we always know there will be a few that can never be made happy .the wedding biz is very stressful dealing with crazy brides and even craziers Mothers that want their daughters to be a princess that one day no matter what they have to do. My daughter has learned to make those 2 people very happy and for that reason her biz grows. The reason I say this is it looks like you do the same . I wouldn't worry about yelp at all most of us if we see something we want to do we go do it it. If we like it we tell everyone . If there's an issue what should be done is tell the manager where you are at and hope that he's or her are able to fix the problem where everyone's happy then we tell everyone how great it was . It's the places that dont seem to care and that's the ones that should worry because I have no problem telling people it's not worth going . The last thing I'll say is shame on YELP I have never let it make my mind up if I was going to any one place or not but from the day forward I'll no longer us them. It's called word of mouth it's can be a good thing and a bad thing... Good luck Scott hope to see one of your shows soon....
